One of the most frequent questions addressed to the cooperative is whether it provides service to a particular road, street or address.
CFNC only recently formed with the goal of providing fiber connections to all central El Dorado County premises. This is a major infrastructure project. There is much work to be done before services can be offered. Building telecommunications infrastructure is like building the private roads that exist in much of the county. They don’t appear overnight; only after property owners make the effort to plan and finance their construction can residents reap their benefits and the value they add to their properties.
Members must join the coop. Consultants must be retained to design the network and develop a long range business plan that meets the needs of the coop’s members. The network must be robust, reliable and able to accommodate future growth. The business plan must ensure the cooperative has sufficient resources to operate and maintain it.
In a cooperative, the customers are the owners. They determine when and where services will be available and on what terms.
